Dr. Steven and Janet Kloster recently attended the annual convention of the Christian Chiropractic Association July 18-22, 2007. The meeting was held in Welches, Oregon at the Resort on the Mountain. The CCA was founded in 1953 on the campus of Palmer Chiropractic College in Davenport, IA. as an off-shoot of InterVarsity Christian Fellowship. The goals of the CCA are to evangelize the profession, send chiropractors on short-term mission trips, and to support chiropractors full-time on the mission field. There are over 1100 members in the CCA.
Convention highlights included Bible speaker Dr. John Day who spoke Thursday, Friday, and Saturday morning on Crying for Justice: What the Psalms Teach Us about Mercy and Vengeance in an Age of Terrorism. The group took a jet boat tour of the historic Willamette River in Portland and toured the Mt. Hood area.
Several missionaries shared about their experiences in different countries and everyone was inspired by their service and dedication. Dr. Kloster has been to Jamaica three times and Janet twice for a weeks mission trip. The team visits public schools, orphanages, schools for the deaf, and holds free clinics in churches.
At the closing Awards Banquet, Janet was recognized as the 2007 Spouse of the Year. This award is given by the CCA Auxiliary “In recognition of her faithfulness as a follower of Christ, her commitment to her husband as he fulfills his calling to the Chiropractic profession, and her support of and participation in the ministries of the Christian Chiropractic Association.”
“Being married to the spouse of the year puts a little extra pressure on me to be on my best behavior”, said Dr. Kloster with a grin. “I hope I’m up to it!”
Dr. Kloster was re-elected to serve another term on the Board of Directors of the CCA. He has served on the board since 2001. |
